Job description
Overview

This role involves working within a mental health inpatient setting as a Pharmacy Support Worker. Applicants must be 18 years or older. The successful candidate will join a clinical team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers to deliver patient care and ensure safe medicines management. The role offers a fixed‑term contract, no weekend or bank holiday work, and flexible hours aimed at improving work‑life balance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor fridge and ambient temperatures in the pharmacy area and report any discrepancies.
  • Develop skills in compiling and transmitting stock orders to the Acute Trust.
  • Receive, deliver, check, and store stock in accordance with Trust procedure.
  • Monitor for expired stock and dispose of it as per Trust guidelines.
  • Work with Pharmacy Technicians to review and adjust stock lists.
  • Assess suitability for re‑use of unwanted stock items and process them according to audit procedures.
  • Maintain and update electronic stock lists, understanding the retention period for paper records.
  • Use the Ascribe pharmacy medicines management computer / labelling system.
  • Accurately dispense medication and ensure all computer transactions are correct.
  • Undergo a dispensing validation assessment.
  • Develop a working knowledge of stocked medicines, their forms and strengths to minimise selection errors.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Willingness to undertake a Level 2 Pharmacy Apprenticeship.
  • Current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Self‑motivated and patient‑focused with a commitment to safe medicines management.
Working Conditions

Fixed‑term employment contract with no pharmacy‑based dispensary commitment. Flexible working hours are available. The position is fully clinical with no weekend or bank holiday labour.
