To succeed in this position, you should have solid experience in general office management, ideally within the NHS, along with a good understanding of medical terminology.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Pharmacy team, act as the e‑Roster Manager, and offer direct support to the Chief Pharmacist and the Pharmacy Senior Management Team.

Main duties of the job
  • The post holder will provide effective office management support to the Pharmacy Department at Bedford Hospital, ensuring key daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and reports are completed on time. This role is central to the smooth running of the Pharmacy office and requires independence, initiative, discretion, and strong communication skills. The ability to liaise confidently with external callers, hospital staff, and patients while maintaining a high standard of service is essential, along with a clear understanding of Pharmacy activities.
  • A key responsibility will be delivering a comprehensive and confidential administrative service for e‑Rostering. This includes detailed knowledge of the system, its build principles, and maintenance, as well as managing monthly processes and day‑to‑day operations. The post holder will also develop rules for staff shift allocation to ensure appropriate staffing levels and competencies.
  • In addition, the role involves providing high‑level administrative support to the Chief Pharmacist, Head of Pharmacy (Bedford Hospital site), and Head of Medicines Governance, Safety & Quality. Working collaboratively with colleagues, service users, and stakeholders, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of an efficient and effective Pharmacy service.
