Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s Musgrove Park Hospital is recruiting for a Pharmacy Dispenser to support a brand-new Outpatient Pharmacy, operating Monday to Friday 9:00–18:00. You will dispense outpatient prescriptions, manage stock and assist with medicines checks, ensuring compliance with procedures and policies.

The role requires good general education, NVQ 2 or equivalent, and prior pharmacy experience. The post offers NHS pension, generous annual leave and other family-friendly benefits.

Qualifications

• Good general education including Science, Maths and English at grades A* to C
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience accredited by GPhC
• Experience in a pharmacy (community or hospital) serving patients or customers

Responsibilities

• Dispense outpatient and blister pack prescriptions accurately and efficiently
• Manage stock, rotation, ordering and liaise with procurement
• Assist with medicines expiry checks, stock checks and returning medicines
• Ensure compliance with SSL policies and standard operating procedures

An exciting new opportunity has arrived at Musgrove Park Hospital!

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and has good communication and interpersonal skills to join our brand-newOutpatient Pharmacy serving patients, visitors and the local community.

This is a rare chance to be part of a brand-new service from day one. The Outpatient Pharmacy will be opened Monday - Friday 9AM till 6PM, the pharmacy will not be opened on the weekends!

As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our dispensary. You'll tailor conversations with every customer to help them feel informed and confident about their healthcare needs, while maintaining a professional and organised environment.

You'll be responsible for:

• Dispensing outpatient and blister pack prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
• Managing stock, including rotation and ordering, and liaising with procurement teams.
• Will assist with other medicines related duties i.e. medicines expiry checks, stock checks and returning medicines.
• Ensuring compliance with SSL policies and standard operating procedures.
