Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Automation Coordinator to manage, maintain and optimise automated systems within the Pharmacy Department and wards, including ADCs, robotic dispensing, and the Aerocom pneumatic tube system.

You will lead a team of Pharmacy Technicians, Assistants and Porters, provide automation training, oversee governance and compliance, and work with Pharmacy, IT and clinical teams to deliver safe, efficient medicines

Qualifications

  • GPh.C. registered Pharmacy Technician with UK registration.
  • Experience in training and assessment of junior staff.
  • Experience with automated dispensing robot and intelligent storage systems.
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Hospital pharmacy experience as a qualified technician.
  • Familiarity with dispensing and distribution stock control systems.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain distribution SOPs and ensure alignment with trust objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Create and manage distribution staff rotas and HealthRoster records.
  • Coordinate day-to-day distribution workflow with senior technicians.
  • Provide professional leadership and training on automation to the pharmacy team.
  • Communicate effectively to allocate tasks and support a safe, efficient team.
  • Drive continuous service development and governance for automated systems.
  • Act as main link between Pharmacy, ICT and suppliers for new automation rollouts.
