Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Section Manager or deputy, undertake general pharmaceutical duties to assist in delivering a safe and effective Pharmacy service in accordance with current policies, procedures and legal requirements.
- Serve as the courteous first point of contact for patients and hospital staff, ensuring adherence to dispensary procedures.
- Receive and process prescriptions and requests according to procedures, handling simple queries or escalating when required.
- Manage dispensary phones and emails, ensuring accurate data entry in WebTracker and EMIS.
- Highlight urgent prescriptions, liaise with ward and clinical teams on discharge progress and coordinate with porters and volunteers for prompt delivery.
- Maintain dispensary cleanliness, replenish supplies, order labels and leaflets and conduct stock checks.
Distribution Duties
- Support the Stores and Distribution team by providing a top‑up service to wards, ensuring stock levels, rotation and expiry checks.
- Process and assemble ward orders, manage returned medicines for reuse or disposal and maintain records.
General Duties
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety and security requirements.
- Organise and prioritise own workload, providing cover when necessary.
- Assist in training new staff, participate in audits and service reviews and support continuous improvement.
- Provide weekend and bank holiday cover as required and uphold the Trust's values in all duties.
