Pharmacist (Outpatients)

Department: Pharmacy

Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Road, London SW5

Permanent, 37.50 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist with excellent organisational and communication skills to provide a first-class pharmacy service and work as a Responsible Pharmacist within our Outpatient Pharmacy.

The role will include providing a comprehensive, patient focused and responsive Outpatient Pharmacy service ensuring patients receive their medication in a timely, professional and efficient manner and that patients receive all the necessary information about their medication.

You will be skilled in communicating with all levels of clinical and healthcare staff in promoting the safe use of medicines.

  • Abide by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards of conduct, ethics and performance as well as standards for registered pharmacies, observing and applying all professional, ethical and legal obligations
  • Ensure that the Outpatient Clinical Pharmacy service is patient focused, responsive and appropriate and that the professional image of the department is always upheld.
  • Work in the Outpatient pharmacy, undertaking responsibilities required of a Responsible Pharmacist including ensuring that medicines are dispensed in a legal, efficient and accurate way and that appropriate clinical and other checks have been carried out.
  • Ensure patients are given appropriate counselling and information, regarding their medicines.
  • Provide professional leadership in the pharmacy, ensuring all pharmacy practice, including their own, is within the boundaries described within the latest version of the Medicines, Ethics and Practice issued by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Ensuring individual patient needs are met and appropriate actions are taken to resolve issues as they arise.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Experience of leading teams and managing a pharmacy as an R.P
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts between 08.30-20.00, weekends and evenings.
  • Excellent team working and communication skills
  • Clinical and hospital experience desirable
