Job summary

A recruitment consultancy in the United Kingdom is seeking a Pharmaceutical Procurement Lead / Category Manager for a 12-month contract. The role involves developing category strategies, conducting market analyses, and managing procurement processes within capital projects. Candidates should have 6-10 years of relevant experience in Capital Construction and Engineering, alongside advanced knowledge of contractual models. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement based in Scotland.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of Capital Construction & Engineering experience required.
  • Advanced understanding of contractual risk allocation across delivery models.
  • Experience procuring Professional Services in complex project delivery models.
  • Advanced understanding of capital project categories: Professional Services, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Automation, Mechanical & Piping, Process equipment.
  • Experience with standard form contracts – FIDIC, NEC, IChemE; NEC preferred.
  • Experience with Lump Sum, Cost Plus, Re-measurable & Target Cost models.
  • Good people management both downward and upward.
  • Master level in Economics or Business or engineering (industrial management).
  • Specialised Master in Procurement is a plus.
  • Experience in Pharma, Food, FMCG; life sciences background a plus.
  • Experience in Capital Construction & Engineering is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Develop category strategies and manage categories.
  • Conduct market analysis and manage RFx processes.
  • Oversee full end-to-end sourcing process and stakeholder engagement.
  • Negotiation and contract drafting & management.
  • Project management of full end-to-end sourcing process on defined purchasing categories.
  • Influence stakeholder behaviours in a changing environment.
  • Leverage industry knowledge to motivate change inside and outside area of responsibility.

Responsibilities and Duties

Qualifications
  • 6‑10 years Capital Construction & Engineering experience mandatory.
  • 6‑10 years experience procuring Professional Services (design, engineering, and project delivery consultants) and Trade packages within complex, multistage project delivery model (Front End & Execution) e.g., FEED + EPCm.
  • Advanced understanding of contractual risk allocation across delivery models (i.e., EPCM, EPC, IPD).
  • Advanced understanding of categories present within capital projects: Professional Services, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Automation, Mechanical & Piping, Process equipment.
  • Experience with and drafting standard form contract agreements – FIDIC, NEC, IChemE; NEC preferred.
  • Experience with Lump Sum, Cost Plus, Re‑measurable & Target Cost models.
  • Good people management both downward and upward.
  • Master level in Economics or Business or engineering (industrial management).
  • Specialised Master in Procurement is a plus.
