Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking an Alternative Provision Tutor to work with learners across Somerset. This in-person role focuses on personalised one-to-one or small-group tuition to help students re-engage with education and develop learning skills.

You will adapt teaching approaches to individual needs, build trusting relationships and maintain safeguarding practices while collaborating with parents, carers and professionals as required.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting children and young people.
• Experience working with learners who have SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support.
• Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
• You must have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Delivering personalised one-to-one or small-group tuition.
• Supporting learners across relevant curriculum subjects, depending on your experience.
• Planning engaging, accessible and appropriately challenging learning activities.
• Adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
• Supporting learners who may be disengaged from education or have experienced barriers to learning.
• Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with young people.
• Creating a calm and structured environment where learners feel safe and supported.
• Helping learners develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards education.
• Supporting learners to develop effective learning and study skills.
• Encouraging young people to re‑engage with education in a positive and meaningful way.
• Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback.
• Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required.
• Maintaining clear and professional communication.
• Following safeguarding procedures at all times
