Job summary

Butler Rose in Stockport is recruiting an experienced Personal Tax Senior to manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth individuals. The role offers full-time, permanent hours with hybrid working after probation, study support for professional qualifications, and clear progression within a growing tax team.

• Solid Personal Tax experience within an accountancy practice.
• Experience managing own client portfolio and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Personal Tax clients, including owner-managed business owners, company directors, partners and high-net-worth individuals
• Prepare and submit Self Assessment tax returns
• Deal with personal tax compliance matters accurately and within relevant deadlines
• Prepare Capital Gains Tax calculations where required
• Maintain strong, long-term client relationships and provide day-to-day personal tax support
• Deal with HMRC correspondence and assist with personal tax enquiries
• Identify opportunities for tax planning and advisory work
• Work alongside the Tax Director on more complex tax planning and advisory matters
• Collaborate with colleagues across the wider practice to provide a consistent service to clients
• Support and share knowledge with more junior members of the team where appropriate

Are you an experienced Personal Tax professional looking to progress your career within a reputable and growing accountancy practice?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Tax Senior to join a well-established accountancy firm in Stockport.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering a varied portfolio of personal tax work, strong client contact and the opportunity to develop your advisory experience further.

The role would suit an experienced Personal Tax Senior, or a strong Personal Tax Semi Senior who is ready to take the next step.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage a portfolio of Personal Tax clients, including owner-managed business owners, company directors, partners and high-net-worth individuals
• Prepare and submit Self Assessment tax returns
• Deal with personal tax compliance matters accurately and within relevant deadlines
• Prepare Capital Gains Tax calculations where required
• Maintain strong, long-term client relationships and provide day-to-day personal tax support
• Deal with HMRC correspondence and assist with personal tax enquiries

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have solid Personal Tax experience gained within an accountancy practice and be comfortable managing their own portfolio of clients.

YOU WILL IDEALLY BE

• ATT qualified, studying towards ATT, or qualified by experience
• Experienced in Personal Tax compliance
• Confident dealing directly with clients and HMRC
• Organised and able to manage your own workload and deadlines
• Interested in developing your technical knowledge and gaining further exposure to tax planning and advisory work

You don't need to have experience across every area of Personal Tax. The firm has an experienced Tax team and is happy to provide training and support to help you develop in areas where you have less exposure.

• £38,000-£45,000 depending on experience

WORKING HOURS

• Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 5:15pm
• Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
• 38 hours per week, including a one-hour lunch

The role is based in Stockport, with the office easily accessible from Manchester, Altrincham, Cheadle, Wilmslow and surrounding areas.
