Personal Injury Team Leader - Motor Claims | Bolton | £35-45k + Hybrid

Are you an experienced Personal Injury professional ready to lead a high-performing motor claims team in Bolton? We're recruiting for a PI Team Leader to join a well-established insurance business where you'll drive performance, develop talent, and oversee the effective resolution of motor personal injury claims in a fast-paced, supportive environment. This is a full-time, predominantly on-site role with hybrid and flexible working options available. About the Role: Personal Injury Team Leader (Motor Insurance)

As PI Team Leader, you'll be responsible for managing and developing a team of Personal Injury Claims Handlers specializing in motor RTA claims. You'll set clear performance standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and act as the escalation point for complex liability and quantum decisions. This role suits someone with strong technical PI knowledge who thrives in a leadership position, balancing hands-on claims oversight with people management, coaching, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of PI Claims Handlers, setting objectives and monitoring performance against KPIs
• Coach and develop team members through regular 1-2-1s, training, and constructive feedback
• Oversee motor PI claims from notification through to settlement, ensuring compliance with FCA regulations and CPR
• Drive performance improvements by identifying process efficiencies and implementing best practices
• Handle escalations for complex or high-value claims, providing technical guidance on liability, quantum, and litigation strategy
• Ensure quality standards across claims handling, file management, and claimant communication
• Collaborate with stakeholders including solicitors, medical agencies, and insurers to achieve fair and timely claim resolutions
• Monitor workload distribution to maintain team capacity and prevent bottlenecks

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Proven experience managing or supervising a team within Personal Injury claims (motor/RTA preferred)
• Strong technical knowledge of PI claims handling, including liability assessment, quantum evaluation, and settlement negotiation
• Understanding of MOJ Portal claims, pre-litigation, and litigation processes
• Excellent communication and coaching skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams
• Ability to prioritise competing demands and maintain focus on results
• Proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset

Desirable:

• Experience in an FCA-regulated insurance environment
• Knowledge of CPR (Civil Procedure Rules) and claims legislation
• Familiarity with claims management systems (e.g., Acturis, SSP, or similar)
