We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Personal Development Coach to join our experienced team at our Longbridge Campus. This is a part time post working 18.5 hours per week on a fixed term contract basis until July 2026.
To deliver the personal development curriculum at South and City College Birmingham through the delivery of tutorial and enrichment activities within a chosen faculty.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Delivery of Personal Development Curriculum
- Deliver engaging and impactful tutorial sessions, up to 10 hours per week to students that focus on personal development.
- Provide one-on-one coaching to students when needed, helping them to identify their goals and create actionable plans for personal and academic growth.
- Work in liaison with other college staff to signpost students to the range of support services available to them including financial, academic, social and emotional issues that may be having a detrimental effect on their studies.
- Develop and implement strategies to support students in overcoming personal, social, and academic challenges and help to embed A-Level study skills.
- Monitor and track personal development throughout the academic year, providing timely feedback and interventions where necessary.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to participate actively and take ownership of their development.
- Provide absence cover within A-Level provision where necessary and support the supervision of A-Level study space.
- Work with Teaching Assistants if required.
Delivery of Enrichment Activities
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate enrichment activities and events that enhance students' personal growth and life skills outside the curriculum, preparing them for HE and their next steps.
- Develop programmes that support personal wellbeing, cultural awareness, leadership skills, and community engagement.
- Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities that complement their learning and enhance their overall college experience.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to support students through UCAS applications.
- Support the faculty staff and placement team with employability activities, communicating with employers to arrange talks, visits, etc.
- Support the delivery of competitions.
Administration and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student participation, achievements, and progress in both study programmes, tutorial and enrichment sessions.
- Provide regular reports to the Head of School and Tutorial Coordinator, including feedback on student engagement and outcomes.
- Contribute to the review and development of the personal development curriculum to ensure it remains relevant and aligned with student needs and institutional objectives.
- Ensure all personal development activities meet relevant academic and safeguarding standards.
- Support curriculum with enrolment and induction planning and delivery.
- Communicate with parents and learners regarding attendance to vocational, Maths and English, tutorial and enrichment.
General Duties
- Take part in CPD activities to prepare for delivery and for your own professional development, including introductory teaching courses.
- Contribute to the College achieving its strategic aims.

Person Specification
- Level 3 qualification.
- Any level 3 qualification.

- Experience of mentoring or youth development context (desirable).

- Strong communication skills:
- Ability to engage and build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience of communicating with stakeholders, such as parents, guest speakers, employers.
- Experience of presenting to groups on a variety of subjects that relate to personal development topics (desirable).
- Coaching and mentoring skills:
- Experience of coaching or mentoring programmes that support personal development.
- Experience of leading on coaching or mentoring programmes that support personal development (desirable).
- Organisational skills:
- Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and maintain high levels of organisation and attention to detail.
- Proficiency using Microsoft 365, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Experience of using educational tracking systems (desirable).
- Creativity:
- Ability to plan and coordinate innovative, engaging, and impactful enrichment activities.
- Experience of planning team‑based activities.
- Experience of leading a creative project with successful outcomes (desirable).
