A home care provider in Hexham is looking for a compassionate Personal Care Assistant to support a lady with dementia at home. The successful candidate will assist with personal care, meal preparation, and encourage social activities. The role requires a calm and caring nature, with preference for applicants with health and social care experience. A full UK driving license and a personal car are essential. Competitive pay of £17.23 per hour for approximately 6 hours weekly, flexible within Monday to Friday.
A family is seeking to expand their team of dedicated and compassionate personal care assistants to support their mum in the Kielder area. Support is required 7 days a week across morning, afternoon, and evening calls to support her in and around her own home and in her local community.
The successful candidates will take a person‑centered approach to care, supporting the client’s independence, well‑being, and choices, while providing essential personal, social, and domestic care. This lady likes to cook and bake as well as go out in the community for short walks, enjoys listening to music from Elvis Presley to status quo, and enjoys watching old TV programmes such as Casualty and doing crosswords and puzzles.
The main duties include supporting as a second personal care assistant for an older lady with significant health and mobility needs: getting in/out of bed, toileting, showering, meal preparation, feeding, administering medication, and socialising while encouraging her to engage in her chosen activities.
The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid‑19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.
Further Information: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense).
Where required, practical training will be arranged, including safeguarding adults/children, moving and handling, medication awareness, and other specific training as necessary.
Rate of Pay: £17.23 higher rate.
Weekly Hours – 6 hours a week. Times to be discussed and confirmed at interview; hours to be shared between Monday and Friday preferably.
