My active, happy 8 years old son is full of energy and a smiley boy, who really loves cuddles. We are looking for a personal Assistant to support him to enjoy fun activities and provide me with some respite opportunities and quality time with my daughter.
His diagnosis of autism means that his communication is limited to single words but he can communicates in his own way. He needs to have a clear routine so that he feels safe and knows what to expect next. He has no sense of danger.
He absolutely adores Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom and likes to pretend that he is 'Ben Elf' (he even has an elf hat, he likes to wear).
The support will involve visiting the park, flip out, soft play, drawing and supporting in the home environment. Having a car would be ideal but not necessary, so that you can safely travel from home to an activity, I would also love to have a second pair of hands on family days out. The hours are flexible and I can fit in with a PA's availability.
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
