Job description
Overview

Personal care assistant for a young woman in the LS27 area. 9 hours per week at £12.60 per hour. Monday to Friday; weekends are £15.69 per hour. Looking for female personnel assistants only.

Hi, I am 21, a full-time wheelchair user with cerebral palsy, ADHD and autism. I struggle with social anxiety and have depression. I am shy at first and looking for someone who is willing to take the time to get to know me, build my confidence, and help me become more independent. I value reliability and openness, and I enjoy Disney, music, shopping and animals. I love hydrotherapy; I struggle with loud, unexpected noises, crowds and last-minute plan changes.

The role is to support me with the following:

Responsibilities
  • Some personal care — helping me get dressed; occasionally helping with swimwear after hydrotherapy
  • Supporting me at home — preparing meals, tidying my room, helping me put clothes away
  • Supporting me when out and about
  • Attending hospital appointments with me
  • Providing reassurance, encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone, and helping me stay motivated
  • Flexible hours mainly through the week, with occasional Saturdays
  • Being comfortable with driving a wheelchair-accessible vehicle
  • Fulfilling any other reasonable requests I make
  • DBS clearance will be completed prior to starting the role
Qualifications
  • Caregiver with a caring, passionate and understanding approach
  • Reliable, flexible, and trustworthy
  • Willingness to work with me to build independence
  • Ability to drive a motability-equipped car (or be comfortable with driving duties related to the role)
Benefits & Additional Information
  • Free training offered via the council
  • 5.6 weeks holiday per annum pro rata
