Personal Care Assistant (Block Shifts) 31.5 hr/wk @ £12.84

We are looking for an experienced Female Care / Support worker to join our team of Personal Assistants supporting one of our clients in the Blackburn area. The role will be varied, but you will be supporting our client who is non verbal and living with cerebral palsy to lead an individual and independent lifestyle within their own home and the community. Our client has a wide range of interests particularly Blackburn Rovers football, boxing, and swimming.

At Salvere Support we support individual clients in their own homes. Our small teams of Personal Assistants provide bespoke, person-centred care to really make a difference in our clients' lives. You’ll only be working with one client which enables you to truly get to know them and make a meaningful difference each day.

You will be working as part of a small team on a 1:1 (occasionally 2:1) basis. Your contracted hours will be: 31.5 hours per week average over a 4 week period.

  • Week 1: Thursday 10am-8am and Friday 8am-1pm (27 hours)
  • Week 2: Wednesday 10am-8am, Thursday 8am-10am, Sunday 10am-8am (46 hours)
  • Week 3: Monday 8am-10am, Thursday 10am-8am, Friday 8am-1pm (29 hours)
  • Week 4: Saturday 10am-8am, Sunday 8am-10am (24 hours)

All training is provided and will consist of e-learning courses, face‑to‑face sessions, practical training, clinical training and competencies. The training is bespoke to the client and fully comprehensive for meeting their needs. We also provide refresher training on a regular basis, to keep your knowledge and skills current.

Who we are looking for:

You must be self‑motivated, well organised, reliable and an excellent team player. As well as being a naturally caring and compassionate person, we’re seeking Care / Support workers with experience of:

  • Continence management and bowel management routine
  • Moving and handling (including hoisting)
  • Domestic duties (laundry, cleaning, cooking nutritious meals)
  • Supporting to travel to appointments, participate in social activities including swimming and be able to confidently support with hydrotherapy sessions
  • Monitoring of general health and well‑being, daily record keeping as such
  • Supporting and communicating with someone who is non‑verbal

You should also have:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness
  • A clean, full driving licence is essential (There is use of a wheelchair accessible vehicle)
