A community support service in Stafford is seeking a dedicated Personal Assistant (PA) to provide essential 2:1 support to an 11-year-old boy with autism and other learning disabilities. The role requires calmness and flexibility, focusing on creating an environment that fosters well-being through meaningful activities and communication. Candidates should have strong teamwork skills and a willingness to obtain DBS certification.

We are looking for a kind, proactive, and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to join a small, established team providing 2:1 support to a fun, active and energetic 11-year-old boy who is autistic and has a severe learning disability, ADHD, and sensory processing disorder. Support takes place both at home (ST16) and in the local community sometimes alongside the client’s mum or dad, and at other times with another experienced PA.
The client’s mum is due to have major surgery in November, and there is an urgent need to provide cover for after‑school periods alongside an existing PA. Thereafter, occasional hours will be available, particularly during school holidays and weekends.
The role focuses on helping the client, who is non‑speaking, enjoy meaningful activities, regulate sensory input, and communicate using alternative methods. Calmness, flexibility, and a positive, neuro‑affirming attitude are essential.
Experience supporting children or young people with autism, learning disabilities, and/or sensory processing needs. (Desirable)
Experience working within family‑led care teams. (Desirable)
Familiarity with alternative, visual communication aids. (Desirable)
