Job summary

A support service provider is looking for a Personal Assistant in Dover, Kent. The role requires supporting a non-verbal child, helping with personal care, and developing social skills. Ideal candidates will have experience with non-verbal children, a good understanding of ADHD and autism, and must be physically fit. Flexible working hours with both term-time and non-term-time options available.

Personal Assistant Vacancy

Location: Dover, Kent

£13 per hour

Term Time: 5 hours per week. Non-Term Time: 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Being flexible to adapt to his preferences on what he wants to do and recognising his cues for this, e.g. wanting to leave the park or allowing him to lead the way on a walk with no obvious destination.
  • Supporting him both inside and outside of the home and supporting him transitioning from one to the other.
  • Helping him to develop social skills.
  • Being responsible for his personal care needs, e.g. changing his incontinence pants, helping him clean himself up after a meal, assisting him in changing his clothing when required.
Other requirements
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication with the child and their parents, maintaining confidentiality. Following his cues for his wants and needs due to being non-verbal and sometimes anticipating his needs if he cant communicate them himself.
  • Always ensuring the safety of the child.
  • Being physically fit, he is a very active child and prefers to be outside going on long walks and going to the park.
