A local authority in Dereham seeks a caring and reliable Personal Assistant to support a wheelchair user with meal preparation, domestic care, and social activities. The role is part-time, 10 hours per week, with a pay rate of £12.38 per hour. Applicants should have a clean driving license and be willing to undergo training and a DBS check. Experience in care is preferred, and a female carer is desirable.
I am a 36-year-old woman with a genetic life limiting condition called cerebellar spinal ataxia, and I live with my four children. This condition means that I am now a full‑time wheelchair user, it affects my limbs, speech and swallowing. I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant who will be able to support me with completing tasks around the home and going out into the community. I am not able to cook meals so would like help to prepare food for myself and the children. Sitting down to a family meal still means a lot to me. I would like support to ensure my home is clean and tidy, free from hazards to allow me free access with my wheelchair. I will need your support to go to appointments or out and about in the community when my partner is not available due to work. I have been managing relatively independently up to now, however, my condition means my health and mobility will continue to decline.
Driver with clean driving license. Cooking skills. Caring and understanding. Friendly. Reliable and honest. Desirable: Female carer preferred. Previous experience in care.
Rate of pay for this position is £12.38 per hour. Hours and times of work: 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 15:00-17:00. Annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks. This position requires the employee to complete the following free annual training: GDPR, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, COSHH and Manual Handling of Objects.
A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer. Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer. Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
