A care service provider in York is seeking Personal Assistants to support a 9-year-old boy with severe ADHD and autism. The role involves helping him get ready for school, traveling with him, and providing personal care. Candidates must have experience with similar conditions and the ability to handle challenging behaviors. This rewarding position offers flexible hours during term time and school holidays.
Personal Assistant x2
07:45 – 09:15 for up to 5 days a week during term-time. During school holidays this will be adjusted to the hours being done in one day. The holiday work can be flexible and discussed with the employer.
Care will be 2:1 wherever possible and always when out of the house except for in the taxi to school.
£15.00 per hour

Personal Assistants wanted for a 9‑year‑old boy who has severe ADHD and autism with a profile of PDA. He goes to a specialist SEMH school and lives with his family. He loves all things trains and playing train games on his Xbox. He needs help staying regulated and loves having 1:1 attention from his PAs. He loves going to school but struggles with the transition from bed to school.
The child needs additional help getting ready and to go to school so that his parents can look after their other children. The job will involve getting him out of bed and ready for school, getting him into the taxi and travelling with him to school. He will require help with all personal care, including getting dressed, changing his nappy, cleaning his teeth and eating breakfast. The job will start at our house and finish at school in Fulford, York where he is dropped off.
The candidate must have experience of children who are autistic and have ADHD and the behavioural challenges that this presents. They must also be aware of PDA and how to interact with PDA children in order to reduce dysregulation. They must be confident handling dysregulation and meltdowns. Although challenging, the work will be rewarding and will massively help both the child and the family.
