Job description

An elderly lady from Brechfa requires a Personal Assistant for 5 hours per week to accompany her to appointments and local events and attractions to encourage and enable more social interaction. This will help with her physical exercise. Must have own car to drive her to the activities etc and will be reimbursed up to 20 miles per week at 45p per mile.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accompanying the employer to appointments & local events and attractions.
  • Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
  • Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
  • Providing companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation and providing social interaction.
  • Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
  • Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during your working hours.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during your working hours.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Being mindful of safeguarding issues, and reporting any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751).
  • Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts
  • Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
  • Undertaking all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Ability to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Job Working Environment

Working in the employer's home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.

  • Prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle during work hours.
  • Prepared to undergo training to best meet the employer's needs.
