Principal duties and responsibilities
- Support with going out to the cinema, possibly swimming, walking, coffee shops etc of her choice.
- Support and encourage her with gaining independence with shopping etc.
- Support and encourage her with activities of interest to her.
- Ensure her safety at all times during your working period.
- To take her out to the local town and local events.
- Support for work based Animal care hopefully in the pipeline.
- To provide companionship and build a rapport with her.
- Minimal support with personal hygiene.
Supporting the employer
- Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence and learning.
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
- Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
- Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
- The PA must be able to drive and have their own car.
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
- To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.
- Be mindful of safeguarding issues, stranger danger, road safety.
- Will need to be Buccolam trained ( Training Provided ) if an Epileptic seizure was to occur.
- Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751).
- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts
- Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer.
- To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.

Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Caring, patient and friendly.
- Responsible, reliable and honest.
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
- Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
- Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
- Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
- Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employer.
- A full, UK driving licence and use of your own car.
- You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
- In addition, all Personal Assistants must have business insurance on their car insurance, a current MOT and vehicle tax.
- Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
Disclosure Barring Service (DBS)
A Disclosure Barring Service Check (DBS) / criminal record check will require to be undertaken for this post. This will be completed on acceptance of job offer.
