Job description

A lady from Llandovery requires a Personal Assistant to support her for 10 hours per week; days would be agreed in advance and can be flexible. The employer has limited mobility so a car that can fit a wheelchair will be needed. She is looking for a friendly chat at home and occasionally assistance with travelling to meetings, going out to the cinema or a cafe to help with her mental health. Lady is diagnosed with ASD and multiple health conditions, some experience with autism is welcome but not necessary.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
  • Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
  • Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
  • Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
  • Providing companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction.
  • Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
  • Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during your working hours.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
  • To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751).
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

  • Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer.
  • To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.

  • A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.
  • You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
  • Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
