Job summary

Direct Payment Employer in Carmarthen is seeking a part-time Personal Assistant to support a non-verbal young man for 5 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday after school from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, with flexibility during school holidays.

Role involves activities such as soft play and swimming, safeguarding, and liaising with family and professionals to ensure safety and independence in daily living and community activities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the young man with encouragement in gaining independence
• Enabling the young man to interact socially in their community
• Providing support to the young man attending activities of interest
• Supporting the young man to develop independent living skills
• To provide companionship in the his home, including engaging in conversation with him and providing them with social interaction
• Ensuring the young man’s safety at all times during your working hours
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by his parents during your working hours
• To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751)
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

Job description

A young man who is completely non verbal from Carmarthen requires a Personal Assistant for 5 hours per week on a Monday and Tuesday after school from 3pm to 5.30pm but can be then used flexibly during the school holidays.

He is in full time nappies so will require changing and he is very sensory seeking so taking him to do activities like Sgiliau or another soft play and swimming would engage with him.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

4. Supporting the young man to develop independent living skills
