Personal Assistant/Support Worker

Location: Frenchay, Bristol (BS16)

Hours: 15 hours per week (flexible working hours – to be agreed with the employer)

Pay Rate: £12.40 per hour

About the Role: A Personal Assistant/Support Worker is required to support a 32-year-old woman who lives in the Frenchay area with her young son.

Duties Include:

Personal Care
  • Support for full body wash including hair and shorter wash routines (to be done in a respectful way to encourage the employer manage this independently)
Household Support
  • Cleaning, laundry, bed changing including supporting to manage pet hygiene for 2 cats
  • Support with shopping (in-store or online), unpacking, and meal planning
  • Batch cooking and supporting the employer to learn cooking together
Administrative Tasks
  • Support with budgeting, bills, and routine planning for the family.
Community Support
  • Support with community access, trips with the employer’s son, hydrotherapy sessions, and support planning for longer journeys to visit family
Working Schedule
  • Morning support for washing will follow the school run
  • Afternoon tasks (e.g. cooking, cleaning, admin) will be agreed weekly with flexibility
  • Weekend hours may be used for community access depending on activities with the employer’s son.

Person Specification: The ideal candidate will be:

  • Kind, patient, and supportive with a strong understanding of person-centred care
  • Reliable and punctual with good communication skills
  • Willing to work collaboratively and adapt to the employer’s needs and energy levels
  • Comfortable working in a home with pets (2 cats) and participating the planning of family activities/ routines
Desirable:
  • Shared cultural background or lived experience that the employer and her son can relate to
  • Preference for female PA for support with personal care
  • Experience with chronic pain, disability, or family support work
  • Basic cooking skills and willingness to support cooking as a shared activity
Essential: Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)References required

Driving: A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.

Open to PA with self employed status - rate to be discussed
