Job description
Overview

Hours: 1-2 hours on a Sunday with more during school holidays. We are looking for a personal assistant to help an 8-year-old boy to get out of the house and take part in activities. He has been diagnosed with Autism and is non-verbal. The role initially supports our client at home to help build a relationship, then progresses to other activities. Some personal care is involved. Our client is non-verbal but communicates through symbols, pointing and using his tablet. The family is seeking someone with a good level of fitness, who enjoys routine and can engage with activities he likes (swimming, walks, tablet use, TV).

Applicants must have a caring attitude, a good sense of humour, reliability, and a positive, flexible approach to work. Having experience within this area would be beneficial.

Requirements & Eligibility
  • Experience in relevant care or a strong willingness to learn is beneficial
  • Caring attitude, reliability, flexibility, and a sense of humour
  • Willingness to support the client in activities at home and in the community
  • PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) enhanced check will be required; you will provide a copy of your certificate to the employer for records
