A local support service in Scotland is seeking a personal assistant to help an 8-year-old boy with autism participate in activities. The role involves personal care, meal assistance, and social activity support, initially at home then in the community. Applicants should possess a caring attitude, reliability, and a sense of humour. Experience in care is beneficial. Flexible hours include Sunday work and more during school holidays.
Hours: 1-2 hours on a Sunday with more during school holidays. We are looking for a personal assistant to help an 8-year-old boy to get out of the house and take part in activities. He has been diagnosed with Autism and is non-verbal. The role initially supports our client at home to help build a relationship, then progresses to other activities. Some personal care is involved. Our client is non-verbal but communicates through symbols, pointing and using his tablet. The family is seeking someone with a good level of fitness, who enjoys routine and can engage with activities he likes (swimming, walks, tablet use, TV).
Applicants must have a caring attitude, a good sense of humour, reliability, and a positive, flexible approach to work. Having experience within this area would be beneficial.
