Overview

Job Title: Personal Assistant

Hourly Rate: £12.60 per hour

Hours Offered: 10 hours a week – 2 hours in an evening Mon-Fri

Work Pattern: To be agreed at interview

Reporting to: The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).

Main purpose

A family in Pembrokeshire are seeking a personal assistant to provide care to a young lady with a diagnosis of Rett’s Syndrome. Knowledge of Rett’s Syndrome and the effect this has on the individual is advantageous, however training will be provided. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.

Responsibilities
  • Support with showering and changing
  • Support with any personal care tasks required
  • Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance

Other requirements
  • A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
  • You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
