Hours Offered: 2:1 Support - 6 hours term time/ 12 hours school holidays + mileage allowance at 45p per mile
Work Pattern: To be agreed at interview.

Reporting

The Direct Payments Recipient is supported by a suitable person, who will also act as the employer on their behalf. The suitable person/ employer will hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations.

Job Description

A young Direct Payments recipient with additional learning needs in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ 2 Personal Assistants as a 2:1 supporting ratio, to support them with their care and support needs. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.

Responsibilities
  • The individual uses communication aids, which are picture based, as they are nonverbal. They will also communicate by pointing, making noises or directing an individual to what they want.
  • Supporting the direct payments recipient with encouragement in gaining independence, by providing opportunities to access and socialise in their community
  • The individual requires a lot of stimulation
  • Provide respite to the direct payment recipients family
  • Improve the individual’s social interaction and wellbeing
  • Providing support to the individual by attending activities of interest, such as swimming and hanger 5.
  • Supporting the individual to develop independent living skills
  • Always ensuring the employer’s safety during your working hours
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance

Other Requirements
  • A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
  • You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
