Overview
PERSONAL ASSISTANT required for 5.5 hours per week. Mileage 10 miles a week at 45p a mile for a 53 year old female. Weekends required at times. A driver is essential. Two Dashounds dogs are friendly. This role involves a variety of tasks, including support with personal care tasks, meal/fluid provision, essential domestic work, socialisation and attendance at essential appointments. The individual has anxiety and requires support from someone familiar and comfortable with her.
Responsibilities
- Support the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
- Enable the employer to interact socially in their community.
- Provide support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
- Support the employer to develop independent living skills.
- Provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation and providing social interaction.
- Encourage the employer to attend appointments.
- Ensure the employer’s safety at all times during working hours.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
- Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Be mindful of safeguarding issues and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council on (01267 228751) immediately.
- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

- Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
- Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Job Working Environment
Working in the employer’s home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Caring, patient and friendly.
- Responsible, reliable and honest.
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
- Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
- Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
- Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
- Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
- A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required. This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.
- You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
- Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employer’s needs.
