Job summary

A local Direct Payments client in Milford Haven is seeking a Personal Assistant to provide support for a 19-year-old with additional learning needs. The ideal candidate will encourage independence, assist with budgeting, and facilitate community interactions. A full driving license is required. Benefits include holiday pay and sick pay. This role is funded through the Direct Payments scheme.

Job Description

A Direct Payments client’s parents in Pembrokeshire are looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support their 19-year-old son who has some additional learning needs to access the community, learn about budgeting and to take to activities of interest. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme; The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive. They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the client with encouragement in gaining independence
  • Support the client with budgeting.
  • Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
  • Enabling the client to interact socially in their community
  • To provide companionship in the clients home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
  • Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the client during your working hours
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance
