Reporting to: The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer, and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role.
Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations). Job Description: A Direct Payments recipient in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal assistant for up to 30 hours per week.

You will be caring for a young disabled man, working in a small team, providing two to one care and support.

This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently.

The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.

Responsibilities
  • Care for a young disabled man working in a small team, 2-1 whilst working.
  • Support the person to take medication, and access therapies.
  • Support the person to maintain personal hygiene.
  • Support the person to access activities of importance.
  • Drive the mobility vehicle.
  • Communicate with the person’s family and wider support network.
  • Provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction.
  • Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
