Job Description

A Direct Payments client in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them with their care needs. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant will have experience in working with people with cerebral palsy or similar. The person is wheelchair bound. You will provide support around all aspects of the person’s care. The PA needs to work flexibly to meet the needs of the person and able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and wishes.

Main duties
  • Have excellent communication with the person that will develop as you build a trusting relationship
  • Support the person to develop her interests and access social groups
  • There is a requirement to complete household tasks
  • Support with food shopping and support at private appointments
  • Undertake personal care as required
  • To provide companionship in the employer’s home
  • Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance

Other Requirements
  • A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
  • You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
