Job summary

A care provider in Bishopbriggs is seeking a Personal Assistant to support an 8-year-old autistic child. This part-time role requires enabling greater autonomy, escorting to activities, and assisting with daily tasks. A valid driver’s licence and experience with children with additional support needs are essential. Salary is £18 per hour, with hours varying during term time and school holidays.

Overview

Personal Assistant

Hours - 6 hours per week, evenings and weekends, during term time and 10 hours per week during school holidays. Salary - £18 per hour, paid every 4 weeks. Location – Bishopbriggs.

PVG Scheme membership required by successful applicant. The cost of joining the scheme/ the initial update will be covered by the employer, upkeep of the PVG is the responsibility of the Personal Care Assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Enable our 8-year-old autistic, non-verbal son to be more independent and empower him to achieve greater autonomy in his daily life.
  • Escort him to leisure or other appropriate social/recreational activities providing supervision and guidance to ensure safety.
  • Assist with daily tasks to ensure the comfort and well-being of our son (including help with some aspects of personal care).
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviours with sensitivity.
  • Respond to any medical emergency as required.
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable access to a personal vehicle are essential.
  • Previous experience of supporting children and/or supporting young people with disabilities/additional support needs is required.
