Job summary

Overview

Personal Assistant for Junior GE/LD/1.25

Junior is a happy quiet boy who is looking for a personal assistant to help him live life to the fullest. He attends several activities during the week, including piano and swimming lessons, and needs help getting to these activities and participating, for example by helping him get ready for swimming. He would also appreciate someone who is happy to share his hobbies with him, such as watching a movie in the cinema or going for walks in the park.

Responsibilities
  • Support Junior to attend activities (piano lessons, swimming lessons) and participate in them (e.g., helping him get ready for swimming).
  • Engage with his hobbies and outings, such as cinema visits and park walks.
  • Adapt communication style to suit Junior, who uses a mix of spoken words, Makaton, and occasional use of a talking device.
  • Provide transport to activities with a Driver’s role; must have a car. Mileage to drive Junior to and from activities will be covered.
  • Be vigilant and supervise Junior when out and about, as he does not always have full awareness of potential dangers.
  • Assist with mobility needs as he uses a walker or a wheelchair for longer distances.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Kind, patient, and adaptable in communication.
  • Experience or ability to work with Makaton; comfortable using or supporting with alternative communication methods.
  • Driver with their own car required; mileage covered by the role.
  • A female PA is preferred, as Junior feels more comfortable with women.
  • Vigilant and able to supervise in public settings; reliable and trustworthy.
  • Mobility support ability (walker/wheelchair) as needed.
  • Availability: 12 hours per week regularly, increasing up to 26 hours per week during school holidays.
  • Regular shifts: Saturdays 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM and Sundays 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM; remaining 3 hours on a third day (negotiable).
  • Based in Govan (G51).
Compensation and Location

Hourly rate: £13.60. Location: Govan (G51).
