Overview

Let us introduce you to Darren. Darren is a person who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and a learning disability. You will support him with day-to-day living in his own home, including personal care, Positive Behaviour Support, and working towards his individual goals and outcomes. You will be trained to support him during anxious or upset times using PAMOVA when required. Darren enjoys activities such as going for a walk, driving his van (staff can drive the van for him), visiting parks, using the swings, playing games at home, Lego, and jigsaws.

Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have a vital role at ENABLE Scotland, making a positive difference every day in the lives of the people we support. You will help Darren achieve his goals and outcomes; no two days are the same.

Darren’s care team comprises five personal assistants and a team facilitator on each shift. You will need to be a keen team player who can communicate effectively with others. No previous experience is required, but an understanding of autism and experience supporting people with learning disabilities would be advantageous.

What you’ll do / Responsibilities

Darren needs the people who support him to:

  • Be resilient and calm
  • Have a good sense of humour
  • Be able to work to strict guidelines and procedures
  • Take pride in delivering a high standard of care
  • Be equally happy supporting him outdoors for the day or having a quiet day at home
