Job description: Listed below are details of the purpose and general tasks of the job. It is advisable to refer to this when submitting your application for the post.

Job Purpose: A Social Care opportunity has become available as a second responsible adult to support a young boy aged 6 with family outings.

Location: Scratby, Great Yarmouth NR29 & nearby areas.

Details: Helping a young boy engage in his local community with his family (Mother and younger brother). This would involve participating in any hobbies and activities that he enjoys.

  • You will be expected to go out in ALL weather conditions. He likes to splash in puddles, go to the beach & the park.
  • Promoting safety, whilst ensuring he is safe at all times. Being aware of sea proximity, hazards, park exits & roads.
  • Be prepared to run/ play ball games/ fly a kite/ throw stones into the sea, etc.
  • Quick to give praise for all good behaviour, eg. “Nice walking”, “Good listening”, “Great throw” etc.
  • Quick to offer high-fives, fist bumps & thumbs up (preverbal)
  • Encourage education & eye contact
  • Use of simple language, e.g. Count stones, annotate behaviour, point out colours of flowers etc
  • Draw in sand, eg, write names or draw shapes with stick or finger etc

Summary terms and conditions
  • The rate of pay for this position is £14 per hour.
  • Hours and times of work: 2 hours each Saturday or Sunday, at the same time and day each week for consistency.
  • Other duties will be discussed if/when deemed appropriate but everything that will be expected will be explained prior to acceptance of the position.
  • The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
  • Access to free training for employed workers.
  • If this job requires; Manual Handling, Handling of hazardous chemicals and/or Food Handling you will be required undertake annual training.
  • The post is subject to the following:
  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
  • Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
  • Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months
