A local family support organization is seeking a Personal Assistant for a lively nine-year-old girl in St Austell. The role involves supporting her communication and engaging in various activities, both indoors and outdoors. Experience with young people with special educational needs is essential. The position offers £12.60 per hour and is primarily during school holidays.

Overview

Personal Assistant required for a happy and lively nine-year-old girl who lives in the St Austell area. She has some learning difficulties and health needs and would like 1:1 support in order to build a positive relationship.

Responsibilities
  • Support her with communication and social skills out in the community.
  • Engage in indoor and outdoor activities with her (e.g., Lego, Playmobil, construction toys, Barbies, LOL dolls, craft activities and colouring).
  • Enable her to enjoy activities in the local community with and without her family.
  • Maintain safeguarding and promote the welfare of children and young people.
Requirements and Preferences
  • Understanding of Makaton would be of enormous benefit but is not essential.
  • Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
  • Car driver preferred with business class insurance.
  • The role is primarily for school holidays with many hours available.
  • The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and not by Cornwall Council.
  • Rate of pay: £12.60 per hour.
