Personal Assistant for 15 year old young woman with Cerebral Palsy @ £12.40/hr in WF3

We are looking for a Personal Assistant to provide regular support for our daughter both in the home and to access activities in the community, supporting her independence. Rate of pay in line with Direct Payments (currently £12.40ph). We live in East Ardsley (WF3). Hours – term time only 4:15pm – 6:15pm Monday – Thursday, 3:45 pm – 6:15pm Friday. There would be the possibility of additional hours at weekends and in the holidays but this is not essential for this role. Start date ASAP with a paid training/get to know you session prior to starting. Lizzie is a bright and bubbly 15 year old, who loves music and dancing. She has Cerebral Palsy and is a power wheelchair user who strives for independence. She has Epilepsy but this is well controlled with medication. She is an excellent communicator and her speech is intelligible to familiar people, she is working hard on this all the time. She does have a communication aid to support her if there is a communication break down. Duties will include: All aspects of personal care, Support with homework, Supporting independence including dressing, Preparing tea and supporting self-feeding, Participating in leisure activities such as joining in with after school clubs, going out to the shops, cinema and bowling.

Essential Criteria: Reliability, Sense of humour (she loves to giggle), Patience, Ability to support with transfers.

Desirable Criteria: Having a driving license and own car, Previous experience of working with people with Cerebral palsy, ICT skills, Lizzie is a communication aid user and some of her activities and homework are online.

Full training will be provided. Enhanced DBS will be required which will be applied for by Leeds DP and + PA Support Hub. Payroll is managed by Barrie Bookkeeping.
