Overview

Hours: 2.5 hours per week, flexible. Rate of Pay: £15.00 per hour gross. Area: Walbottle, Newcastle upon Tyne.

We are looking for a kind, reliable, and flexible Personal Assistant to support my daughter, Anna, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant communication difficulties. Anna requires support with personal care, social activities, and emotional regulation. She uses tools like PECS and visual prompts to aid her understanding, and routine is very important to her well-being. Your role will involve assisting Anna with activities she enjoys, such as swimming, walks, or soft play, as well as helping her navigate daily tasks, manage her emotional responses, and ensure her safety, particularly around situations she finds distressing, such as encountering dogs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care support and assist with daily routines as required.
  • Support Anna during social activities and outings (e.g., swimming, walks, soft play).
  • Help with emotional regulation and safety, including managing distress in situations such as encounters with dogs.
  • Use communication tools (PECS and visual prompts) to aid understanding and independence.
  • Follow established routines and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications and Skills
  • No formal qualifications required, but experience working with children with autism is preferred.
  • Patient, dependable, and able to follow direction.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Being a driver is preferred; training will be provided as needed.
  • Must have permission to work in the United Kingdom at the start of employment.
