Job description

Personal assistant required to support an easy‑going, rugby‑loving adult male funded through a direct payment for 6 hours a week. To access community activities, encourage and develop social and life skills, as well as building confidence and independence away from the family home.

The individual is easy‑going and well liked within the community and currently works part time, something he really enjoys. He loves sports and recently had the opportunity to play Rugby at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Other interests include listening to music, watching films and spending time with his family.

The individual has a diagnosis of Asperger's and associated learning disabilities and finds it difficult to socialise and interact with others without encouragement or support. He can often become anxious at times and requires support to live independently.

Main Duties
  • Support the individual to access community based activities, clubs and groups.
  • Encourage social interactions within the community (e.g., going to the pub, cinema, meal out).
  • Support exploration of interests such as walking, bike riding and sports.
  • Develop greater confidence and independence away from the family home.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential:
    • Driving license and access to own vehicle.
    • Experience of working with adults with disabilities.
  • Desirable:
    • Knowledge and understanding of Asperger’s.
    • First Aid trained.
