Job summary

A local support service in Glenrothes is seeking a compassionate individual to assist a wheelchair user with community activities, including shopping, swimming, and other hobbies. Ideal candidates will be reliable, possess a caring attitude, and have good fitness. While driving is preferred, non-drivers are also encouraged to apply. Enhanced PVG check required.

Qualifications

  • Good fitness level required for assisting a wheelchair user.
  • Experience in personal care preferred.
  • Driver’s license is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Support client in community and participation in activities.
  • Assist with some personal care tasks.

Overview

Responsibilities
  • Support our client with going out in the community and helping her to take part in activities/hobbies, such as attending youth groups, swimming, ice skating, going shopping or out for lunch.
  • Suggest other fun activities.
  • There will be some personal care involved in this role.
Requirements/Preferences
  • Client has a mobility car so being a driver would be preferred but non-drivers will still be considered.
  • As our client is a wheelchair user, who also uses hoists for transfers, a good level of fitness is essential.
  • There is the possibility for more hours, which may be discussed with the successful applicant.
  • Applicants must have a caring attitude, have a good sense of humour, be reliable with a positive and flexible approach to work.
  • Having experience within this area would be of benefit.
  • Training on hoist can be given if needed.
  • This role requires an enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
