Overview

The role is office-based, in London or Chelmsford, offering in-person support to the Advocacy Lead who has lived experience and is passionate about empowering others with learning disabilities. Your role will be to support him to carry out his day-to-day work, including regularly attending events and in-person meetings.

Dimensions Advocacy Lead has 15 years’ experience and has played an integral role in the development and delivery of our campaigns, including raising awareness about access to healthcare and launching our new campaign about friendships. He is a self-advocate with a learning disability and has an MBE and honorary doctorate in recognition of his work.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with someone with a learning disability.

The hours available to work are 25 a week. The full-time salary is £33,241,17, pro-rata salary of £22,160.78

Interview date will be the 25th of November via Microsoft teams.

About the role

Your main duties will include:

  • Support the Advocacy Lead’s work to support campaigning activity as part of the External Affairs team.
  • To support the Advocacy Lead with reading, monitoring and responding to emails, and doing these things on their behalf where necessary.
  • Occasional travel with the Advocacy Lead to events and meetings.
  • Supporting him by taking notes and following up with stakeholders afterwards.
  • Support the Advocacy Lead with diary management, organising and planning meetings
About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • Excellent communication skills, with high levels of English and the ability to write clearly and without jargon
  • IT literate with skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work creatively to support a colleague to develop the skills they need to do their job
  • The ability to always operate with absolute discretion and confidentiality.
