I am the employer and the service user. I have been allocated 8 hours’ support per week via direct payments, to assist me with some of the physical requirements of living at home. I reside in my own property and have 2 dogs. I am extremely independent and manage all my own personal care needs and medication. I have a diagnosis of Bipolar Type 2, and Spina Bifida which affects my mobility. I have a manual wheelchair which I require both in and out of my home to get around. I have been allocated direct payment to employ a PA to assist with tasks I find difficult to manage or complete myself, such as gardening, housework, decorating, and DIY. I am a homebody and enjoy spending time within my home. I work part-time from home, so the PA support can be scheduled flexibly across the week, with times and days agreed weekly. The PA will support me with physical tasks, shopping, and occasional social activities or outings. I seek someone proactive, willing to engage with the tasks, and supportive in helping me maintain independence. I enjoy going to the cinema, shopping, eating out, and visiting garden centres, and may need the PA to accompany me.

Tasks Required:

  • Support with shopping.
  • Assist with decorating and basic DIY around the home.
  • Gardening.
  • General housework: cleaning, washing, ironing.
  • Support and/or prompting to access leisure activities.
  • Develop a trusting one-to-one working relationship.
