Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and internal PAS system.
  • Experience in NHS medical secretarial environment is desirable.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive service to consultants and specialty teams with minimal supervision.
  • Keep diaries up to date, arrange appointments, travel and accommodation.
  • Operate an effective bring-forward and filing system.
  • Mentor, train and supervise relevant staff as required.
  • Manage annual leave requests and sickness absence; ensure smooth cover.
  • Prepare presentation documents and meetings for clinical staff.

Band 4 PA - Radiology Department - AUH site Full time 37.5 HRS Monday to Friday 7.5 HRS per day We currently have a vacancy within our Radiology Secretarial Team for an experienced, enthusiastic and well-motivated PA/Medical Secretary. This role is based on the Aintree site with the expectation of cross site working if and when required. A good knowledge of medical terminology along with excellent keyboard and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be expected to undertake all administrative duties, be well organised, able to plan your own workload using your initiative and work to deadlines. Excellent communication, organisational and secretarial abilities are essential to the role. The post holder will also be expected to work with minimum supervision. They will be able to demonstrate flexibility and use their initiative to carry out duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation, thus enabling the Consultants to utilise their time efficiently and effectively. Confidentiality must always be maintained.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive service to the consultants and speciality teams with the minimum of supervision. Organise your own workload and co-ordinate activities with other medical secretaries to ensure that an efficient service is provided. Keep diaries up to date, arrange appointments and arrange travel and accommodation. Support consultants in non-clinical activities role by preparing presentation documents using relevant packages and arranging meetings.

Education/Qualifications
  • Educated to GCSE/O Level standard/equivalent or higher
  • RSA/OCR Typing/Word processing Level 3 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Secretarial Qualification or equivalent experience
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • Shorthand
Experience
  • Excellent I.T. skills with knowledge and experience of all Microsoft office packages
  • Demonstrable experience working in an NHS office environment as a medical secretarial
