Job summary

A service provider for youth support in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Personal Advisor to help young people leaving care transition to independent adulthood. The role involves developing Pathway Plans, coordinating with agencies, and advocating for care leavers' rights. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in supporting young individuals and possess excellent communication skills. This full-time position runs from December 2025 to February 2026 during a period of sickness cover.

Qualifications

Rate : £16.90 per hour

Contract : December 2025 – February 2026 (sickness cover)

Hours : Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Personal Advisor to support young people leaving care as they transition to independent adulthood. The successful candidate will work within the Children, Young People & Families division, helping care leavers aged 16-25 to achieve their personal goals in education, employment, housing, health, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pathway Planning : Develop, review, and monitor Pathway Plans in partnership with young people, social workers, and partner agencies to ensure aspirations and needs are met.
  • Multi-Agency Coordination: Build effective relationships with external agencies, families, and carers to deliver joined-up support.
  • Housing & Finance : Assist care leavers in securing and sustaining suitable accommodation and accessing financial entitlements or benefits.
  • Independent Living Skills: Support young people to build essential life skills including budgeting, tenancy management, and accessing local resources.
  • Advocacy : Champion the rights and voices of care leavers, ensuring they are empowered to make informed choices about their futures.
