Job description

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Sefton MBC to assist with the appointment of a Personal Advisor on a 4-month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £19.00 - £24.29 per hour

Summary

The Personal Advisor (PA) is a key role within the Children’s Social Care Service, responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of care‑experienced young people. The PA provides essential advice and practical support to young people as they transition to independence. This includes coordinating services, developing Pathway Plans, managing risk, and working collaboratively within a wider corporate parenting team to ensure young people achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and practical support to care‑experienced young people.
  • Lead the assessment, preparation, monitoring, and review of Pathway Plans, ensuring a person‑centred focus and empowering young people.
  • Assist young people to maintain positive health and well‑being and provide targeted advice to access specialist health services.
  • Identify and assess levels of risk and need and take direct responsibility for reporting risk through the line management structure.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and up‑to‑date records on ICSS and any other electronic data management systems.
  • Ensure that all expenditure on cases is properly authorised and recorded.
  • Engage in continuous professional development by attending supervision sessions, staff meetings, and Performance and Development Reviews.
Essentials
  • Experience in providing direct advice and practical support to vulnerable young people or care leavers.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, national guidance, and departmental procedures relating to safeguarding, corporate parenting, and leaving care (Care Leavers Act).
