Job description
Personal Advisor – Full Time Position

Future Foundations (the Leaving Care Team) in North Tyneside Council are recruiting to a full time Personal Advisor position. The postholder will have responsibility for supporting a group of young people on their journey into adulthood and supporting a wider group of young people through team involvement, including duty tasks.

Future Foundations provide support to 18‑25 year olds who have been children in our care in North Tyneside. This is a statutory role within Children's services that supports young people to transition into adulthood and achieve their potential. The role ensures our young people have the best opportunities to thrive in the borough and beyond.

The Personal Advisor is a varied and dynamic role focused on building positive professional relationships with young people to achieve positive outcomes. The postholder works directly with the young person to create their Pathway Plan and to promote this journey with others. The role involves lone working and occasional travel where young people live beyond the borough.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a statutory setting with young people, be able to organise and manage their workload meeting necessary deadlines, and have appropriate IT skills to manage the role.

The successful candidate should have an understanding of the impacts of the care experience on young people and how this can present barriers to the transition to adulthood. The candidate should be a good team player but also confident in managing their own work, including complex situations.

Our Carbon Net‑Zero 2030 Action Plan. In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council's operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government's net‑zero target of 2050. We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can't do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us. Together we can make North Tyneside a sustainable place to live and work for everyone in the borough.
