Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking a Permitting & Consents Engineer to support the development and execution of consenting strategies across a complex, highly regulated programme. You will work with engineering, environmental, legal and project delivery teams to ensure regulatory requirements are understood, planned for and achieved.

You will engage regulators, local authorities and stakeholders, providing expert guidance on permitting requirements throughout the project lifecycle and help

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, environmental, planning, or related discipline.
• Experience delivering permits, licences, or consents.
• Knowledge of UK environmental and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple activities across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience on major infrastructure or nationally significant projects.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Understanding of nuclear or highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement permitting strategies.
• Identify required approvals for project delivery.
• Prepare and submit permit and consent applications.
• Liaise with regulators and stakeholders to facilitate approvals.
• Collaborate with project, engineering and environmental teams to embed compliance.
• Monitor consent obligations and maintain consent documentation.
• Contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Develop processes and best practices for consenting activities.
