Job summary

Argyll and Bute Council is seeking a Catering Assistant (peripatetic) to join our Commercial Services team in the Oban area. The role is temporary, part-time (20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 10-2 during term time) and based at Park Primary School, with duties covering absences and vacancies across Oban kitchens.

You will support catering operations, ensure hygiene, and work within a flexible, supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering or school canteen environment.
• Ability to work 20 hours per week, term time, Mon-Fri 10–2.
• PVG membership is required to work with children.
• Full clean driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Cover absences, vacancies and annual leave in Oban kitchens.
• Assist in food preparation and service in schools.
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards across sites.
