Job description
Overview

Are you a midwife, nurse or physiotherapist with an interest in perinatal pelvic health? As part of the NHS Long Term Plan, all expectant women and birthing people and their partners should have access to Perinatal Pelvic Health clinics and pathways. All women and birthing people should be supported during pregnancy, childbirth and at least one year following birth.

This role will work with the Perineal Specialist Midwife and the PPHS Physiotherapist to achieve all key performance indicators set out by NHS England by providing individualised support to women and families in a flexible and innovative way.

For more detail on the service specification, see NHS England Service Specification.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individualised perinatal pelvic health support to women and families throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the first year post‑birth.
  • Work collaboratively with the Perineal Specialist Midwife and PPHS Physiotherapist to meet NHS England performance targets.
  • Coordinate perineal and pelvic health activities under the guidance of the Perineal Specialist Midwife.
  • Liaise with multi‑professional colleagues to deliver specialist clinical practice, education, research, audit and evidence‑based practice.
  • Engage with people in all maternity settings, offering practical support to help them achieve their own choices and goals and to promote positive health changes that improve pregnancy and birth outcomes.
  • Support initiatives to tackle inequalities in health through the promotion of pelvic health and improve family health outcomes.
