Job description

The Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service is looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable nursery nurse to join our team on a permanent basis for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The successful post holder will work as part of our multi‑disciplinary team, providing treatment and intervention to women during the perinatal period who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. The core purpose of the team in which the post‑holder will work is to deliver high‑quality, tailored interventions in maternal mental health and attachment‑based approaches to mothers and infants in Barking and Dagenham. The Nursery Nurse role involves working with mothers and babies in their own homes, the community or at other premises such as children’s centres across the boroughs.

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will work as an integral part of the multi‑disciplinary team ensuring that there is appropriate communication with other professionals involved in the care of the child and mother.
  • The post holder will work alongside professionals offering therapeutic input with the mother‑and‑baby relationship as a focus of your work.
  • The post holder would be expected to have robust knowledge of child development and attachment which will inform their intervention. They should also have experience with maternal mental illness and the impact this has on the mother‑baby relationship.
Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period unless they are currently part way through a probationary period or a bank member of staff.

Start and Induction

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the induction, new starters will have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers and attend drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Pay Supplement

This post also attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941).
